Speaking of Hacks and lazy jokes, Asay is strapping politicians to a polygraph machine! Which, as anyone with a critical enough mind knows, is not a lie detector, it’s a stress detector that can indicate possible lies, but isn’t admissable evidence.
Anyway, the joke is that Obama is lying about a thing he kinda never said, and what isn’t even goddamn relevant. Yes, Santorum isn’t “for higher gas prices”, but he believes the earth is free for man to use, up to the point that we make our own living environment uninhabitable. To use language political cartoonists might understand: imagine a sinking ship. Imagine people who hate running. Obama is saying that people should move faster to not drown. Santorum is saying everyone should be allowed to move at their own pace, because the ship isn’t sinking.
And yeah, a narrow majoirty of people these days tend to be shocked by the victorian morals of Miracle Rick. This is obviously media bias, and not the fact that denying civil rights from people is a Bad Thing.
Not lying and being right are not two of the same thing.
