I swear, if I went back a few months I could find a near-identcal cartoon, witht he Obama quote being the Gaffe du jour.
How much mileage are they going to take out of this misquote? I’m sure it’ll appear next to “57 states” in some Ramirez cartoon well into Obama’s second term, but most people will probably just forget the whole thing by next month.
Why are these people standing verticaly near the roof of the Sistene Chapel?
Anyway, Higgs Boson isn’t “the key” to the universe, it’s just proof that the Higgs field, which explains why some particles have mass, others have considerably more, and others don’t have any. And this helps cement the standard model that explains the rules of how and why the universe works the way it does.
And the particle isn’t that important. It’s just prrof of the Higgs field, and without the field (or some other mechanic that would have been worked out if the Higgs field was found not to exist) we’d either have all particles zooming around at the speed of light. It’s not that it had to come from somewhere, we wouldn’t know if it didn’t, because we wouldn’t exist. So why attribute it to god, and to the Christian god at that?
Which ones are supposed to be good and which ones bad, anyway?
Also “religious liberty” LMAO.
1. Again, awe get the stupid “spending” strawman, when no-one ever has any constructive suggestion to cut the budget without screwing with important government functons.
2. A recession that started a year befre Obama was elected? Must be his fault.
See below.
You know, I remember a cartoon Ken Catalino did back in 2008. Panel one, a group of dejected women holding up signs that say “Women for Hilary.” Panel two, the same group, now elated and holding up signs that say “Women for Palin.”
Catalino was so naive as to believe that Hilary Clinton’s supporters would shift their support to the next female candidate instead of basing their vote on, you know, issues.
And then McCain/Palin lost. Fancy that.
And here Romney doesn’t even have a woman as a running mate (at the moment). People like Varvel and Gorrell think female voters are going to suddenly turn out en masse for the Republican candidate (a male) just because someone on the Democratic side (a female) said something presumably offensive about stay-at-home moms (which she immediately retracted).
How delusional are these people? Even if this story had legs (again, my prediction is that this will be forgotten before the weekend is over), how is Romney specifically or the Republicans in general supposed to clean up from one poor choice of words? How is that one quote supposed to undo everything Republicans have done to attack and marginalize women up until now?
Yep, slow but steady economic recovery is sure the same thing as a car crash.
If the US had longer terms for presidents, I wonder if Bush got the blame for the crisis he caused?
US Troops killed in Afghanistan: 1,140
Afghan civillians killed since 2001: 8,813 and that’s not counting troops or the wounded
Or to visualize, imagine for every American Flag covered Casket, this many caskets covered with flags of Afghanistan:

(the American flag is 114 pixels tall, the total height of the Afghan pile is 881 pixels)
So, when Republicans do the same in reverse it’s OK?
And let’s get real for a moment, the prize hike during Bush years was a lot larger and sharper than during the Obama years.
Yes, demanding hospitals and universities to cover contraceptives is exactly like replacing communion with condoms.
But I understand the concern. 2% of Catholic women don’t use contraceptives, and this change might push them over the line too!
