Wow. Is Chuck Asay really trying to contrast free birth control with domestic violence? Because that’s what comes to mind when I look at the first panel. Women who have been beaten or threatened and they need somewhere private to hide.
Why is Asay bringing safe houses into this conversation? What the fuck is wrong with him? It’s been ridiculous enough to see conservatives get up in arms about Democrats et al wanting to provide free birth control, but at least there was something resembling logic as it’s usually been on the grounds that they think it somehow violates religious liberty or will encourage teenagers to go out and have sex (as if teens need encouragement to have sex).
But this? What the fuck is Asay thinking? Why… Where…. What is going through his mind that he sees the issue of birth control and his response is ‘Women who have been beaten by their spouses”?

Fuck you, Asay. Fuck you FOREVER. I’m sure you’ve successfully avoided knowing this, but that’s no excuse: Reproductive coercion is a thing in abuse. That care and safekeeping in the safe house? Is probably going to need to involve getting them access to birth control in at least some cases. Abusive partners (in relationships where it’s biologically possible for them to procreate with their victim) often sabotage birth control, because it’s that much more difficult to get away from someone you have a kid with.
This showed up on my dash not far from a story about a woman Planned Parenthood helped out with secret Depo shots after her abusive boyfriend confiscated her BC pills. Nothing like that to highlight this jackass’ utter disregard for reality.

That commentary.

It’s as if Ramirez asked himself “How many trite slams can I include in one picture?” and he only stopped because his editor was able to wrest his pen from him.

My favorites are “No Truth Traffic” and “Road to Serfdom”.
First one, because I find it endlessly amusing when born bullshit factories like Ramirez and the usual suspects in my blog, call their brand of demagogy “truth”. Second one, because I’m not entirely sure Ramirez even knows what Serfdom means, and entails. In fact, if we want to compare any form of employment to serfdom, I would look at modern capitalism, and the precariate workforce; people who only have short term contracts, either having to change work every now and then, or being terminated and then taken back regularly so that they don’t gain any benefits of a long carreer. This thrives in ideologically capitalist economy, because if there’s one thing bosses hate, it’s paying employees well.

Buh?
Chris Muir is Poe. There is no other explanation.
I’m not sure I want to live in a world where that isn’t true.
I’m not sure I can continue reading this strip.
He is accusing one of the two major political parties of using a terrorist to intimidate and possibly injure/kill people who “look into Obama’s past.” I would not be surprised if Muir was one of the people who thought Obama had Andrew Brietbart killed.
This is no longer funny. I’ve joked about the art, I’ve joked about Muir’s inability to tell a cohesive story. But this…? Either Chris Muir is putting on a giant act of satire, or he is beyond help.
I’m going to assume it’s the former, because that’s the only sane possibility, and just stop reading this strip. There’s no reason to critique satire.

Satire, or someone’s decent into a madness; neither makes for really good riffing. You either feel like an idiot for not getting the joke, or an asshole for poking fun at a seriously troubled person.

Um… What the hell is with the bride? Why is she a giantess? Why is she oddly proportioned? Why the noticeable arm hair?
And what’s that off to the left? A fire? A pile of rubbish? A childish scribble?
And was it Wall Street that killed Facebook’s stock, or was it that people have been able to remember all the way back to a decade ago and the burst of the tech bubble?

Funny part is, it’s actually Facebook that’s doing damage to Wall Street, because the hype and ensuing bubble drove the market itself down.

Following the heels of someone who can’t do their own work finding a cartoon on their own, there’s this. The original was by Alex Ross, featuring George W. Bush instead of Barack Obama. You can still see Ross’ signature in the rip-off cartoon.
And question, why did the ‘artist’ put an Obama logo on the Statue of Liberty? Is she supposed to be an Obama supporter and this cartoon is meant to reflect how Obama’s policies have been disastrous (even life-threatening) to the people who voted for him?
No, I think that gives too much credit to the ‘artist.’
Another question: aren’t the person behind this and The Gay Republican of the tribe that is always going on about self-reliance, pulling up your bootstraps, and earning your own way in life (and, a couple years ago, were threatening to go Galt because they were sick of all the leeches mooching of their hard work)? How do they square that with such blatant plagiarism here? (Hell, let’s throw in Gorrell for that question, considering how often he just photoshops something instead of drawing it himself).

Man, I always thought the Bush vampire was a bit too on the nose, but it’s downright subtle compared to the Obama edit. Love the inverted American flag in the background.

It’s a slippery slope, Terry Wise is saying. Since we’ve allowed Teh Gays to exist it’s only a matter of time before we come to accept bestiality, necrophilia, and pedophilia.
Because that’s the only logical outcome.

You build a cat flap, and the next thing you know, your kitchen will be invaded by Mountain Lions.
