So it seems Muir isn’t the only one still trying to make hay out of the Trayvon Martin shooting and Obama’s presumed influence on the matter. It just raises questions like
-How is Obama’s influence ‘unraveling’?
-For that matter, what influence? What has Obama said or done in relation to the shooting and/or George Zimmerman’s trial recently?
-Why are conservatives like Wise and Muir so insistent on taking the position they’ve taken? I asked this yesterday when talking about Muir’s recent storyline, but people like Muir have tried so hard to paint Zimmerman as a saintly, innocent victim who could do no wrong. The flipside of that claim, however, has been the necessity of making Martin out to be completely in the wrong. He smoked pot before, he was suspended from school, here’s a picture of a black kid (not Trayvon) from Facebook where he’s striking a gangsta pose. Do or say whatever you can to make Trayvon out to be a deserving victim.
I’ll say again what I said yesterday: I have never seen Muir say anything like “It’s a tragedy that Martin was killed that night, but George Zimmerman had the right to defend himself.”
No. He hasn’t done that. He probably can’t do that. He can’t take any position that is not rooted in the starkest black and white view of ‘Zimmerman good, Martin bad.’
I can’t say with 100% certainty that Wise has the same lizard-brain view, but the Martin shooting and Zimmerman’s trial haven’t come back to the national news spotlight (from what I’ve seen), so they question is why are they talking about it now? And, as I asked above, why are they trying to link it to Obama?

Yeah, I don’t remember Obama taking any strong active stance on the case. Conservatives be racebaiting, again.

I wonder why Ramirez didn’t list any of Romney’s accomplishments as a politician, like Romneycare. I guess this is a peek into the conservative mindset.
Giving healthcare to all of Massachusetts? BAAAAAAAAAAAD!
Buying up companies, selling off their assets and laying off who knows how many people? GOOD!
(Oh, and keep banging that Solyndra drum, Ramirez. One of these days people will start giving a fuck about it, and then you just watch Obama’s approval rating fall.)

Since I don’t study political science, I didn’t know what labor participation rate was. So I looked it up, and found this graph:

And why, it would look like the chosen timeframe (thirty years) coincides with the huge spike in labor participation after Reagan deregulated business, labor unions were disciplined with offshoring and political disenfranchising. You know, as if that whole labor participation spike was due to people being cooerced to work more for the same (or less) pay. And just maybe, maybe it’s a bubble, because people were working more for less pay that had less real value, and are currently dealing with other problems, like the mortages they were coerced into taking wihtout being able to pay them.
The fact that I’ve hardly ever heard the term “job participation rate” until today means mostly that no-one gave a shit until someone noticed it’s lower now, and decided to blame it on Obama. Because trends of global economy hinge on one person, especially when the rate was already going down aroound 2008, if you actually read the graph.

Still confused. Isn’t that woman supposed to be the liberal stereotype who, presumably, abhors guns? The fact that she’s closing her eyes and turning her head like every woman in a Hollywood action movie indicates she had no experience with firearms (though how she’s not being thrown back by the gun’s recoil escapes me).
And “You two damn be so-“? What the hell is that guy trying to say? And is ‘Roosevelts’ an actual slang term?
Though I like how he’s pulling out a fucking uzi in response to his friends being hit with a piece of lumber. If they were going to rob the couple shouldn’t he have pulled the gun first, maybe a few feet away from them so they couldn’t use the giant piece of wood as a weapon? Shitty muggers.

You know the worst part? Count the shots. She shoots *seven* times. Once in the first panel, six in the second. This is amazing, as that particular handgun should only hold six rounds. Always. Count. The. Shots.
In fact, many revolvers only hold five rounds.
I’m curious to see where Muir is gonna take this. I’m feeling this is going to be another take on the Trayvon case.
…also, which fucking ignorant ass gangsta is waving an uzi around casually, in 2012? Everyone knows you don’t keep a gun on your person, and especially nothing bigger than a pistol, because you get more time for crimes commited with those weapons.

Trying to counter the ‘Romney is a robot’ meme, are we? I’m not sure how well that’s going to work with Barack ‘Mr. Charisma’ Obama (and remember, I’m not an Obama fanboy; but you’d have to be insane or lying to say Obama of all people is wooden).

And really, his smile is how you go after him? Do people vary their smiles from picture to picture? You just raise the corners of your mouth, maybe bare your teeth. There’s no method acting there. Brando didn’t put himself in the shoes of his smile before each take.
Keep reaching, Muir.
Also, should I start keeping tally of a) women arching their backs slightly and/or b) the externals of buildings in this strip?

Wow, 20 pictures with the same face? I mean, just the first page of results will give you three, four distinct expressions, and even if he does smile in a lot of pictures, it’s not an identical smile.
That’s just such an odd thing to criticize him for.

This was today’s Henry Payne cartoon. And this was his last cartoon:

He didn’t copy the woman, but it’s the same person, as well as the same basic idea and execution in the two cartoons.
And this isn’t the first time Payne has ripped himself off within the space of a couple days. I want to know, does he get paid for both cartoons? Does he get two checks?
And does his syndicate not care that he’s acting so lazy?

And damn, Avengers is at least topical… though Captain America was in the theatre last year.
